Delete your account or your data

You can have your account and everything attached to it deleted. Two ways:

Removing some of your information without deleting your account

You do not have to delete the whole account to remove something. In the Shmuel ha-Navi 40 app, open Settings → Edit my details, where you can:

• Clear your address — empty the field and press Save. It disappears from the directory straight away.
• Clear your email — the same way.
• Remove a phone number — press remove next to it. Any of your numbers can go except the one you sign in with; to change that one, ask the office.
• Turn off notifications — per person or per kind of simcha, in Settings. Your notification history stops being added to.

Anything removed this way is deleted from our database immediately, not merely hidden.

To have something else removed — a simcha announcement about you, or an invitation picture you uploaded — email [email protected] from any address, tell us the phone number you sign in with and what you want removed. We confirm it is yours before removing anything, and we do it within seven days.

What gets deleted

• Your account and phone number
• All sign-in sessions
• Your registered devices and notification tokens
• The people you follow and your notification settings
• Reminders you set
• Your notification history
• Everything recorded about how you used the app — profiles you opened, searches you typed, hearts you pressed — and your phones' battery history

What stays, and why

Two things are not part of your account and are not removed by deleting it:

• The yeshiva roster entry — your name and contact details in the yeshiva's own contact list. That list belongs to the yeshiva, not to the app. To come off it, ask the office, or write to us and we will pass it on.
• Simcha announcements — these were published to the whole community before the app existed and are a communal record. If you want an announcement about you taken out of the app, ask us and we will remove it.
